3 Feb 2005 Rafflesians off to a good start with two golds and a bronze

Quek Kay Hian won a gold medal and Lim Weisian won a bronze medal in the Kasetstart Open 2005 held in Bangkok , Thailand , from 20 – 25 Jan. 14 other students also represented Singapore in the competition against 168 competitors from Singapore , Myanmar and Thailand.

19 Jan 2005 RJC alumnus Wong Ling Ling co-authored an article published in a scientific journal

Working in partnership with A*STAR’s Bioinformatics Institute (BII)’s Dr Adrian Mondry and Mr Peng Dong, and fellow student Sarah Ng of Anglo-Chinese Junior College, Raffles Junior College’s Wong Ling Ling published the article, “Quantitative Evaluation of Recall and Precision of CAT Crawler, a Search Engine Specialized on Retrieval of Critically Appraised Topics”, in the 10 December 2004 issue of the scientific journal, BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making.

Raffles Junior College saw an outpouring of kindness and goodwill in the aftermath of the devastation caused by the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Moved by the will to help those in need and the desire to serve society, the RJC community, including alumni and other stakeholders, came together as one body to contribute their time and money.

Orientation with a different twist:
Serving the greater good of the community and nation


Instead of the regular orientation games and school cheers to build up team spirit and inculcate a sense of belonging to the college, JC1s at RJC had a “freshman” orientation with a different twist – one that immediately inducted them into the school culture and gave them an acute insight into the core purpose of the college, which was to nurture thinkers, leaders and pioneers, who would serve the greater good of the community and nation.
