Financial Aid for Singaporeans

If you are a Singaporean considering RI but are concerned that costs may be an issue, rest assured that there are resources available that can assist you with:

The amount of support you will receive will depend on your family’s gross household income or gross per capita income.

MOE ISB (Independent School Bursary) Scheme

This Bursary is for Singaporean students studying in Independent Schools like RI.

More information about the eligibility and assessment criteria for the ISB is available on this MOE webpage.

Students may apply for the ISB at any time in the school year. The subsidy will take effect from the month the application is approved and will not be backdated. 

Eligible students who are Singapore Citizens may submit their applications via Stamford Portal using parent log in account.

Edusave Scholarships For Independent Schools (ESIS)

The Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools (ESIS) is only awarded to students who are Singapore Citizens:

ESIS (Year 1): Awarded to Singaporean students who are in the top one-third of the total number of Year 1 students admitted to all IS, based on PSLE results (before bonus points). Students who meet the ESIS cut-off score and are admitted to IS under the Direct School Admission Exercise will also be offered the ESIS.

ESIS (Year 3): Awarded to Singaporean students at Year 3 if they are studying in an IS, have performed well in the ESIS Test and are not awarded a 4-year or 6-year ESIS at Year 1.

ESIS (Year 5): Awarded to awarded to Singaporean students who are admitted into an IS at Pre-University 1, not awarded a 6-year ESIS at Secondary 1 and 4-year ESIS at Secondary 3 and fulfill the following:

For students on the 6-year programme:

  • Have not sat for the GCE O-Level Examinations;
  • Have not sat for the ESIS Test at Secondary 3; and
  • Perform well in the ESIS Test at Pre-University 1.
  • For students on the O-Level track

For students on the O-Level track:

  • Within the top 5% of all students who sat for the GCE O-Level Examinations (Based on L1R5 scores before any bonus points)
  • O-Level students who meet the ESIS cut-off score and are admitted to an IS under the Direct School Admission Exercise for Junior College (DSA-JC) are also awarded.

 

ESIS (Yearly): Awarded to Singaporean students in IS who are not awarded any other type of ESIS. These are given to the top 10% of each cohort by level in each IS based on their school examination results for the year. These awards are to encourage and reward students who have excelled academically as well as obtained a good grade for conduct in that year.

 

Award Quantum

The ESIS award quantum is $2,400, and will cover part of the annual school fees charged by the school. 

For recipients who are also admitted to one of MOE’s special programmes (eg. Music Elective Programme etc.) or awarded any other MOE scholarship (eg. Humanities Scholarship, MOE Pre-University Scholarship, Language Elective Scholarship etc.), the ESIS award quantum will be the same but less any fee subsidy provided under MOE’s special programme or scholarship.

Students awarded the ESIS may also apply for the ISB, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Recipients awarded both the ESIS and ISB (Tier 4) need only pay up to $24.45 per month for their school fees (including supplementary fees) for the academic year.  Those awarded Tiers 1-3 ISB subsidy need not pay any school fees (including supplementary fees). 

Recipients awarded the ESIS but not ISB will have to pay $135 per month for their school fees (including  supplementary fees) in the academic year. 

Tenure

The ESIS is tenable for the duration that the student is with the school. The scholar must make good progress each year and have good conduct in order to continue receiving the scholarship.

UPLIFT Scholarship

The UPLIFT Scholarship is awarded to students who are receiving a 100% subsidy via the ISB. This Scholarship consists of a cash award of $800 per annum to help offset the out-of-pocket expenses for students from lower income households.

The Raffles Scholarship

RI is committed to helping you experience the full Rafflesian Education. The Raffles Scholarship is awarded to RI students to ensure that students from various financial backgrounds are fully able to participate in the whole range of activities in school alongside their schoolmates. This scholarship is awarded in addition to the MOE ISB.

Students who are receiving the Independent School Bursary and whose family’s Monthly Gross Household Income and Per Capita Income do not exceed $7,500 (GHI) or $1,875 (PCI) respectively will be eligible for the scholarship. Eligible students will be invited to apply for the scholarship after their ISB applications are confirmed.

Students approved for the Raffles Scholarship will receive between $500 to $3,000 per academic year.
