1. This competition comprises of three categories, colour, monochrome and photo essay.
2. For the colour and monochrome categories, the theme is Lumière: to Illuminate. Participants are free to interpret this theme in any way they deem fit. 3. For the photo essay category, the theme is Illuminating Social Issues in Singapore. Participants are free to interpret this theme in any way they deem fit. 4. This competition is open to all full-time students (born 1994 and before) at any academic institution except universities. 5. Short listed participants may be required to produce a valid student pass and/or a verification letter from their respective schools, as proof of their status as a full-time student, or their O level results slip. 6. Entry forms must be fully completed and attached to the back of each entry. Entries with incomplete entry forms will be disqualified. One entry form is required per entry. Photocopies of entry forms are allowed. 7. Each photograph may only be entered in one category. 8. Photographs taken with either digital or film cameras will be accepted. 9. There is no limit to the number of photograph entries and/or written works submitted. 10. There must be minimal digital manipulation to any photographs submitted to any category including photo essay. The original structure of the image must remain intact. Central elements of the photograph cannot be removed or added. 11. Only single-frame and single-exposure images will be accepted. Any works submitted under any category, including photo essay, which are composites or consist of multiple exposures, will be disqualified. 12. Short listed participants may be required to produce the original and unedited digital file, negative or slide. 13. The participant must be the sole owner and author of all photographs and/or written works submitted. 14. Photographs and/or written works shall be original and unpublished. 15. Photographs and/or written works which have previously won prizes in any other competition are not eligible to be submitted. 16. For the colour and monochrome categories, photographs submitted must be prints in either 8R or super 8R format. Mounting is not required. 17. For the photo essay category, participants are to submit a printed article detailing a social issue in Singapore. The article is to be between 300-500 words in length, and contain 3-6 original photographs. The author of the essay has to be the sole author and owner of all written and photographic material contained within the submission. The layout of the article and photographs is entirely up to the participant. A soft copy of the article with photographs in the same layout as the hard copy submission is required. The soft copy is to be saved on a CD-R, and submitted together with the hard copy. 18. The deadline for submission of all entries is 1st April 2007, 1700 hours. Entries received after that date and time will not be accepted. Entries submitted by post will not be accepted if they are not received by the Raffles Junior College general office by 1700 hours on 1st April 2007. 19. Entries can be submitted either by post or by hand directly to the general office at Raffles Junior College. Envelopes should be addressed to: Raffles Junior College Photographic Society, Raffles Junior College, 10 Bishan Street 21, Singapore 574013 20. The organisers of the Singapore Schools Photography Competition (SSPC) 2007 will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged works. 21. All works submitted are non-returnable. 22. Should the contest participant’s entry be short listed for an award, exhibition or publication, the participant grants the organisers and sponsors of the SSPC 2007 a non-exclusive royalty-free licence to use the participant’s photograph/written work for exhibition purposes and/or reproduce any photographs and/or written works for publicity purposes or other materials in connection with this contest or future contests, including prints that will be sold for charity purposes, without requiring the organisers and/or sponsors to notify the participant, seek the participant’s permission, or owe any form of compensation to the participant. Relevant credit to the original authors will be given. 23. The decision by the SSPC 2007 judging panel is final. No correspondence will be entertained. 24. The SSPC 2007 organisers will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged entries. 25. Award recipients will be notified by post in mid-April 2007. The results will also be posted on the official website, www.rjc.edu.sg/sspc07. 26.
