Special Programmes / Humanities Programme

The aim of the Humanities Programme is to attract potential scholars who can benefit from a very challenging course from which they will emerge as questioning and inclusive thinkers with leadership potential across a range of careers, including the higher levels of the Civil Service.

A Challenging Programme
Students offer four subjects: English Literature, History or Geography, Economics and Mathematics C or Knowledge and Inquiry. The A-Level course is approached in a way that encourages intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, discussion and development of personal opinions. This enables the students to manage the challenges of offering the H3 Papers and, for many, advanced studies at some of the world's finest universities.

Grooming Leaders
Humanities Scholars are expected to contribute fully to the college and its success, and to serve society at large. Many take up leadership positions at RJC, and go on to become distinguished practitioners in law and the arts, including contributing to the creative arts scene in Singapore.

Achieving Excellence
Humanities scholars continue to sustain the Rafflesian tradition of outstanding results. Roughly two-thirds of each cohort go on to study overseas, many on prestigious government scholarships. RJC Humanities Scholars have won the Angus Ross prize for the best A-Level English script across all countries on numerous occasions, and four have been awarded the President's Scholarship.
