Admission to RJC

Applying to RJC

Choosing a junior college for your post-secondary education may well be one of the more major decisions you will need to make in your life thus far. After all, it will determine where you will be for two years of your student life.

As daunting as this may seem, it need not be so. Rather, consider it an opportunity to find out more about the different programmes that various junior colleges in Singapore offer and make an informed choice

Through the course of your search, you will no doubt also make interesting discoveries of who you are, what you want out of life, what you can give to society, and which junior college will best help you realise your fullest potential.

We invite you to go through the RJC webpages to find out for yourself if RJC can offer you the challenges and excitement you seek, give you the room to pursue your interests and passions, and provide opportunities for you to serve and learn to serve the community around you.

Students can apply to RJC through the following schemes:

DSA

  • The Direct School Admission Exercise (DSA) aims to promote holistic education by giving participating schools greater flexibility in selecting students while holding to the key principles of transparency and meritocracy.
  • DSA provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of student achievements and talents in seeking admission at the pre-university level. Students who show exceptional talents in the areas of sports or performance arts are invited to apply to Raffles Junior College through the DSA scheme.
  • Once a student has accepted the DSA offer from a college, he/she will not take part in the Provisional Admissions Exercise and the Joint Admission Exercise. The student is assured of a place in the college, as long as his/her ‘O’ level results satisfy the requirement for entry to JCs.
  • Selection criteria for DSA applicants are based on the applicant’s CCA records, and the criteria set by Raffles Junior College for the various co-curricular activities.
  • Application for DSA 2009 will commence in May 2009.

Joint Admission Exercise (JAE)

  • The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted annually by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to allow holders of Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ level certificate to apply for admission to courses offered by Junior Colleges (JC), Millennia Institute (MI), Polytechnics (Poly) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
  • JAE for JC1 2009 will commence upon the release of the 2008 GCE ‘O’ level results.

Foreign Admissions

  • Foreigners who are interested to pursue a JC education at Raffles Junior College (RJC) are invited to apply under the foreign admission scheme.
  • Admission for foreign students will be based on the applicant’s secondary school results, performance at the entrance test that is conducted by Raffles Junior College on the subjects of Mathematics and English, and an interview with our admission panel.
  • Application for the foreign admissions starts in October 2008. Interested students can download the application form and submit it to the college. The admission test will be conducted in October 2008. Applicants will be informed of the status of their application in December 2008.
