Learning Outcomes

    1. Art Skill & Processes (Practical)
      1. Students will learn to use art process and convention to explore, interpret, develop, create and communicate
      2. Students will be able to make appropriate decision in solving visual arts problems
      3. Students will be able to develop and acquire a sound and critical practice and able to materialize their ideas and concepts into a quality artwork.
    2. Art Responses & Appreciation
      1. Students will develop a critical and inquiring attitude in visual art, and learn to interpret and evaluate artworks effectively
      2. Students will be able to articulate and analyse their own practice, and able to identify and appraise their thought processes and conceptualisation

  1. To create and provide a supportive environment in school for purposeful learning of the art.
  2. To create a well planned curriculum and well managed space that provides increasing opportunities for students to develop their artistic potential and creative capabilities.
  3. To create an open culture that encourages innovation and risk taking in students’ own artistic creations.

    1. Technical handling skill of various media and crafts (see below) such as drawing. Painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, animation, designing etc.
    2. Ability to perform visual enquiry and explore various language of art making and assimilate them into their own art works.             
    3. Creative Problem Solving with regards to art making processes

Appreciation and critical investigation into art history and art works

Art Curriculum

The curriculum is created to provide a supportive framework to support positive and quality Learning, Teaching & Assessment experiences.

This includes opportunities to learn and to practise processes, skill and values, and to connect and to challenge. Ample rooms are given to reflect and collaborate.

Art Programme in RJC offers the study of Art at H1, H2 and H3 levels.

H1 Level Art
Study of Visual Arts
Weighting: 100%

H2 Level Art
Coursework / Studio Practice
Weighting: 60%
Study of Visual Arts
Weighting: 40%
 
H3 Level Art
Theory of Art
Weighting 100%
(Students must do H2 Art before they are offered H3 Art.)

Study of Visual Arts
Theory paper; Students are to answer 3 questions in 3 hrs.

Coursework / Studio Practice
Practical paper; Students are to produce a unit of art work based on chosen medium or craft. The finished work must be accompanied by preliminary/ preparatory studies.

Theory of Art
Theory paper; Students are to answer 2 questions in 2 hrs.
