Over the past months, there have been numerous additions to the school's environment. Amongst which are the following:
1) Raffles Biodiversity Pond

The Raffles Biodiversity Pond fulfills the following:
- Education - Allows students to appreciate our natural heritage in a wider context through the learning of flora and fauna of Southeast Asia. The selection of fish species advised by the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research and further refinements will be instrumental in getting the students to appreciate the pond. Students will also learn about ecology and biodiversity through a species-rich pond that highlights the different niches and micro-ecologies that form an ecosystem.
- Understanding of Issues - Get students to appreciate aquatic systems in the wider context of water relations. Water is a strategic point economically and socially and the understanding of how water drives agriculture, sustains development and how precious water is as a resource to Singapore. The pond, as a focal point, will drive the understanding of such issues.
- Partnership in Education - The pond gives us a platform to form symbiotic relationships with partners in education (Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, Singapore Zoological Gardens, Hyflux) to increase the educational mileage of resources within the School Environment.
2) Canteen Wash Area

The wash-area has been reconstructed to provide a cosier ambience to the canteen area. Within it are water-saving taps, planter pits and even chin-up bars - for those who would like a quick work-out before lunch. And there is also a plaque telling the history of the school situated within the area.
3) Lockers

Colour-coded lockers, numbered locks, and at the same time, building up team spirit! The 'House' coloured lockers situated at 2 areas within the school serves multiple purposes. It allows 'House' members to bond at their coloured lockers, while ensuring safety and security for users as well. These brand new lockers will serve the cohort of over 2,500 students in Raffles.
4) Student Affairs Centre
The Student Affairs Centre is now NETs-enabled! This allows students and parents to make payments for services without the need to carry large amounts of cash around. It also allows for foreign students who do not own cheque books to make payment. With this service, we hope it will help to ease students/parents frustration while making payments.
The college will continue to keep you updated on the various new areas around the school. We have also placed the information on the website where the pictures can be viewed.
Thank you. Raffles Institution
